ABOUT THIS PAINTING
I enjoy listening to Jazz in my studio while I paint. Hearing one of my favorite renditions of the song Night and Day by Ella Fitzgerald, I had the strong desire to paint a beautiful portrait of a model friend I know. The painting is divided in half – light and dark. The symbolism of continuity yet changing conditions appeals to me. Her portrait is alive with color and her expression I especially like – one of confidence, knowing who she is, understanding her value. The palette includes rich violet, soft pink, aqua, charcoal, and deep blues throughout.
