I am wishing everyone a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year. I thought I’d post this painting, completed in my studio last month, as it relates to what is happening today in America’s capitol.
About this painting:
November was painted during the 2020 election season. You may notice the “I voted” sticker which I added to her blouse. I was in the middle of reading about how important the Black vote is to our democracy and was inspired. She is standing alone in a field of dried sunflowers, pointing to the beauty of seasonal changes. The dried sunflowers are everywhere here in New Mexico in November, and I placed her squarely in my immediate environment to express my deep appreciation and importance of Black Americans in my life.
Drop me a line if you would like to comment on this painting. I always enjoy hearing from art lovers.
