It’s been a creative, productive wind-down to 2020. Most of you know I love to paint large. These four new landscapes are all on the smaller side.
Up North
Down South
Out West
Back East
The medium is acrylic on panel and they are sized at 11 x 14. The bold, thick paint is applied to a highly polished, gessoed panel which gives it a smooth, vivid quality and just the right amount of texture: lush in some places and veiled in others. These are little jewels, if I do say so myself. You can see them now at the Patricia Rovzar Gallery in Seattle.
Back Story
I made these paintings as a tribute to Americans everywhere, in all parts of our nation. We are going through a challenging time and I wanted to make paintings which reflect this time yet also shows the resiliency of our people. Influenced by one of my favorite painters, Edward Hopper, I would like to think these small houses, located in different regions across the US, are reflective of our different lives and circumstances. Each painting tells the story of the state of our nation, in a subtle way. I am wishing everyone a prosperous, healthy and happy 2021.
